Pumpkin Festival
Sept. 19-Nov. 1, 2009
Fri. 1-6 p.m., Sat. & Sun. 10 a.m.-6 p.m.
**Also open Columbus Day, Mon. Oct. 12, 2009, 10 a.m.-6 p.m.**
Be sure to visit Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm during our favorite time of year. Shop for a wide variety of fall produce including gourds, ornamental corn, organically-grown squash, and pumpkins of every color, shape and size. We’re proud to offer many hard-to-find varieties at great prices!
You may choose to begin your visit with a "get-acquainted" stroll on our nature trail. You'll go past the pumpkin patch, over two creek bridges, and through the wooded pasture. The original trail is 1/3 mi., or you may continue on the extended trail for a total of 2/3 mi. past a small pond and the horse pasture.
Next, the kids can enjoy some vigorous playtime digging in the corn box and climbing on the playground equipment and hay bales. There are friendly horses and cows to visit, and the Chicken House, Corn Crib, and farm machinery exhibits to explore, but you may want to stop by the Schoolhouse Café first. We offer hot dogs, smoked pulled pork sandwiches, homemade baked goods, drinks and more, all in the charming atmosphere of our restored 120-year-old one room schoolhouse.
Are you ready for a hayride? New for 2009, a hayride is now included in our admission fee! When you get back, head to the hay loft in the barn to paint your pumpkin (free with paid admission and pumpkin purchase) or build a scarecrow to take home. There is also a great lookout window where you can get a bird’s eye view of the farm.
What better way is there to end your visit to the farm than with a shopping spree? First on the agenda, of course, is to pick the perfect assortment of pumpkins and harvest decorations! We sell straw bales, corn shocks, mums and all the essentials. Our restored barn store houses a complete gift shop on the first floor, filled with seasonal décor, gifts, foods, crafts, and primitives.
You won’t find a more relaxing setting offering a more complete country experience. Start a new fall tradition with your family this year!
--No outside food or drink, please. (Birthday cakes o.k., see Parties page for details.)--
