Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm is located on a farmstead established in 1881 northeast of the village of Avoca, Nebraska. The farm was purchased in 1944 by Bill and Florence Brandt, grandparents of current owner Teresa Lorensen and husband Terry. The name of the business has special significance. In the years when Teresa was dissatisfied with her career and looking for something more fulfilling, her mom would tell her to “bloom where you’re planted,” or in other words, make the most of the place you’re at in life. Those words helped inspire the Lorensens to take the leap, and in 2005 they opened a new business on the farm where they had been "planted".
Having grown from our humble beginnings, today we offer a full-slate of pumpkin patch activities, food and shopping with a relaxed, family farm atmosphere. There's fun for the whole family and a wide array of autumn produce grown right here on the farm -- heirloom pumpkins and squash in many colors, Jack-O-Lantern and pie pumpkins, and both large hardshell and small decorative gourds. See our Pumpkin Patch page for a list of all the fun activities we offer!
Any time we're not working on the farm we're out digging up vintage wares, farm antiques and cool old stuff for our Vintage Marketplace and other Rural Route Rust events and sales. For more information please go to www.RuralRouteRust.com.
Thanks for stopping by!
