ABOUT US

MISSION STATEMENT

We believe that one of the best gifts you can give someone is peace of mind. When you make the decision to visit Bloom Where You're Planted Farm, we want you to have peace of mind that you will be warmly welcomed and have a fun and authentic experience at a good value.  We think our setting, staff and activities will leave you relaxed and happy with a wealth of fond memories of a day well spent.

SUPPORTING OUR MISSION BY GIVING BACK

To find our peace, we like to get out in nature, and we want to make sure everyone has that same opportunity for years to come.  For every $100 in retail sales, one tree will be planted in a national forest through the National Forest Foundation's Sapling Program.

Additionally, you can't find peace of mind if you are food insecure.  Therefore, a percentage of all pumpkin and produce sales is donated to local food pantries.

MEET THE OWNERS

Bloom Where You’re Planted Farm is located on a farmstead established in 1881 northeast of the village of Avoca, Nebraska. The farm was purchased in 1944 by Bill and Florence Brandt, grandparents of current owner Teresa Lorensen and husband Terry. The name of the business has special significance. In the years when Teresa was dissatisfied with her career and looking for something more fulfilling, her mom would tell her to “bloom where you’re planted,” or in other words, make the most of the place you’re at in life. Those words helped inspire the Lorensens to take the leap, and in 2005 they opened a new business on the farm where they had been "planted".

Having grown from our humble beginnings, today we offer a full-slate of pumpkin patch activities, food and shopping with a relaxed, family farm atmosphere. Our passion is growing beautiful pumpkins and creating a space where our visitors can slow down and enjoy all that the season has to offer.

Any time we're not working on the farm we're out digging up vintage wares, antiques and cool old stuff for the Mercantile and other Rural Route Rust events and sales.  For more information please go to the Spring & Summer Events page or visit www.RuralRouteRust.com.
